More Institute & YSA!

Brother Mark Lewis, CES Institute teacher.  We try to have the majority of the food prepared ahead so we can have the wonderful lessons with the YSA.  We have just started the first half of the Doctrine and Covenants for this current year.

Denise (from Yeovil) and Sister Parker

We always have the Institute lesson, then food, followed by games or other activity.

Fall Colors and Bookers Wholesale

October brings some beautiful colors in England, though not at all like the canyons of Utah.  We have this one beautiful tree with color outside of our third floor windows.  The small tree inside with colored lights was our After-Christmas tree bought for our flat back on the London Temple grounds.  We will bring it home as it was the most color we had in our one-room flat, and we turned it on every day since Christmas.

Bookers Wholesale, though not generally as versatile as Costco, kept us in some needed supplies for all the food prep we did on this mission:  meatballs, individually wrapped muffins and cupcakes, M&M's, plastic pitchers, brown paper lunch bags, and really good salsa, to name a few...

Wareham Old Phone Booth

We will miss our scenic views as we walk in this beautiful area.  We are on our last month in the England Birmingham Mission.  We have truly been blessed to spend our last few months in such a beautiful area near the sea.

We found this "old" phone booth in Wareham, a small village nearby.  This one actually had the kind of phone used when Elder Parker was here almost 50 years ago!  No credit cards accepted...  It reminded him of standing in the booths, dropping in the coins to make the needed calls.  All of the coins he used then are no longer in use now.

Wareham is a small historic town with a river that was used for trading and other transportation.  It is only a few miles from where we live.

We live at the Pentagon, 52 Haven Road, Poole.

Poole Stake YSA & Institute Fall Kick-off Activity

President Tony Furbank with Sister Parker.  President Furbank is the 1st Counselor in the Poole Stake Presidency and over the YSA Program.  He is wonderful to work with!  (After serving 8 1/2 years, the Poole Stake Presidency was changed the Sunday after this picture was taken.  2nd counselor, Peter Cope was made the new stake president.)

Elder Parker and President Furbank.

Dance workout!

Dancing followed by nerf gun wars was a big hit for the kick-off activity for the new Institute year!
Food was Nachos/Taco Salad and it was also a hit!

Who gave Elder Parker that Nerf gun?  He looks much too excited!

Brownsea Island Visit

Poole Harbor - where you can take a ferry to Brownsea Island - where Lord Baden Powell held the first experimental camp for the Boy Scouts over 100 years ago.

Board the ferry right by the sidewalk of the harbour.

Poole Harbour - buy various tickets for ferries.

Brownsea Island is only a 20 minute ride.  You can see the island from several points on the mainland.  Every Scouter like Elder Parker needs to visit Brownsea Island!  Notice the island even has a castle, which is privately owned.

Many walk sthrough beautiful natural scenery.

Trading Post, but not filled with all the candy Scouts like in the USA!

Beautiful beach areas as well.

The ferries come and go throughout the day till about 5:00 pm.

Poole Harbour tour around the island.

Institute & YSA Cookie Service Project

After a great Institute lesson on giving service, the YSA baked a bunch of cookies to deliver to various people in their homewards.  Baking plenty of cookies so a bunch could be eaten is also great!
