Trip to Seven Sisters and Eastborne

The Seven Sisters is a series of chalk cliffs by the English Channel. They form part of the South Downs in East Sussex, between the towns of Seaford and Eastbourne in southern England. They are within the South Downs National Park which is bounded by the coast, the Cuckmere and the A259 road. They are the remnants of dry valleys in the chalk South Downs, which are gradually being eroded by the sea.

We visited Seven Sisters and the city of Eastbourne with Elder and Sister Madden the weekend of Elder Parker's birthday.

Our SAT NAV (GPS) took us a back way in through the countryside when we chose to leave the motor way, but we saw things we would have missed if we had stayed on the main road.  Notice the White Horse on the mounain.

Which way does the wind blow when you're above the sea?

Eastbourne Pier, near Seven Sisters.  The flowers were in full bloom for Spring.

Happy Birthday #68 Elder Parker!  Looking good!

Night lights near the beach and near the B&B where we spent the night.

Eastbourne Chapel - very historic building - an old Catholic school purchased by our church many years ago.
(Sister Madden and I did not plan the polka-a-dot dresses!)

Lewes Castle Trip-Senior Outing

Senior Outing to Lewes Castle with Wallaces and Maddens.  We love the rain!  If you chose to stay home in England when it rained, you would never go anywhere!

Lewes Castle, about 45 minutes from The London Temple where we live.  Wonderful history and quaint village.

We wondered why there was a Russian cannon in Lewes...I forgot to read the sign!
Favorite companions.

I've been having trouble with my knee and other joints, but I made all those steps in the background.  Then the turrets in the castle about did me in...  But the view from the top was worth it.

Old bookstore.  Sister Madden found the Harry Potter book she was searching for...

Dinner at Paglia e Fieno in East Grinstead - anything from pizza to liver to "dirty beef" and a salad I had that I didn't know what I was eating half of the time!  (But it must have been healthy.)

Devon Trip to See Eileen Haines - Baptized 48 Years Ago April 20-22

Back of the Reading Chapel, the mission headquarters for the British South Mission when Elder Parker was here 48 years ago.  Left doors were to the mission office at that time.

The Royal Hotel in Weston Super-Mare night before arriving at Eileen's.

Back of hotel was just a few hundred yards from the sea at Weston Super-Mare.

Elder Parker loves the traditional English breakfast!  It always includes baked beans, one fried egg, mushrooms, bacon (ham), and sausages.  (Usually there is a fried tomato also.)

The Devon countryside is exceptionally green and beautiful.  This picture does not due it justice!
